Serving is one of the ways we grow in our faith, build meaningful relationships, and take part in what God is doing in our church and community. At English Christian Fellowship, we believe everyone has unique gifts, passions, and seasons of life—and there is a place for everyone to serve.


That’s why we practice something called First Serve

First Serve is our way of helping people discover where they’re best suited to serve before making a long-term commitment. It’s an opportunity to explore different ministries, serve alongside existing teams, and get a feel for how each ministry functions—without pressure. We want serving to flow from calling, not obligation.


If you’re unsure where to start, select up to three (3) ministry areas below to explore. If you already know where you feel led to serve, that’s great too. You’re welcome to jump right into the ministry God has placed on your heart.


Whether you’re exploring or ready to commit, there are many ways to serve—both up front and behind the scenes. Every role matters, and each one helps create an environment where people can feel welcomed, connected, and encounter the love of Jesus.

Kids Ministry

Our Kids Ministry partners with families to help children from birth through 5th grade know Jesus, grow in their faith, and feel safe and loved. Serve by engaging with kids on Sundays or by supporting behind the scenes through preparation, setup, and care.

Student Ministry

The Student Ministry walks alongside middle and high school students as they grow in faith and community. Serve by facilitating student group meetups or investing in life-on-life discipleship that helps students follow Jesus in everyday life.

Worship Ministry

The Worship Team helps our church fix our attention on Jesus through music that is intentionally prepared and free of distraction. This is a discipleship-focused environment where volunteers grow in character, unity, and musical skill as singers or instrumentalists.

Production & Tech

The Production & Tech Team supports worship behind the scenes so services feel clear, peaceful, and distraction-free. Serve with sound, graphics, lighting, livestream, or overflow screens. No experience needed—we train and support you step by step.

Welcome Ministry

The Welcome Ministry creates a warm first impression for everyone who walks through our doors. Serve by greeting guests, helping people find seats, connecting with first-time visitors, or supporting behind the scenes with setup, materials, and service flow.

Hospitality Ministry

The Hospitality Team helps create a welcoming space for fellowship before service by preparing snacks and refreshments. Serve by helping acquire food items ahead of time or by assisting on Sundays with setup, organization, and hospitality areas.

Translation Ministry

The Translation Ministry serves as a bridge so everyone can understand and engage with God’s Word, regardless of language. Serve through live translation, tech and Zoom support, or behind-the-scenes translation of documents, devotionals, and communication.

Social Media

The Social Media Ministry helps share what God is doing at ECF beyond Sunday mornings. Serve by creating, posting, or organizing digital content that communicates church life, events, and messages in a clear and engaging way.

Prayer Ministry

The Prayer Team serves as the spiritual backbone of our church through faithful, compassionate prayer. Serve by praying before and during services, partnering with those seeking prayer, or supporting daily prayer needs behind the scenes.

Missions Ministry

The Missions Ministry helps fulfill Jesus’ command to go into all the world by offering opportunities to serve locally in the Central Valley, throughout Costa Rica (including indigenous communities), and globally through projects, trips, and support roles.

Groups Ministry

The Groups Ministry creates space for spiritual transformation through authentic, Scripture-centered community. Serve by helping lead or support Rooted, Life Groups, and Connection Groups across the Valley through a discernment and training process.

Admin Support Team

The Admin Support Team serves behind the scenes by supporting systems that help people stay connected to ECF. Serve by assisting with data accuracy, weekend resources, offering counts, and special projects that support church health and integrity.
